About Victoria

Victoria Hynes arts editor and writer portrait

During her childhood Victoria was taken (usually reluctantly) to art galleries and museums as regularly as she was to playgrounds and beaches. This experience, as well as an immersive trip through Italian art museums as a teenager, has driven her love of the visual arts.

She began her career working in the private gallery sector in Sydney, before moving into arts journalism after completing her Masters degree. Though based in Sydney, Victoria is an avid traveller and is passionate about covering regional art galleries and arts festivals across Australia and overseas.

Victoria lives with her family on the east coast of Sydney, surrounded by an eclectic array of art that threatens to overtake her home.

Painting With Stone:
The Story of the Melocco Brothers

Written by Zeny Edwards | Executive Editor Victoria Hynes

Painting With Stone uncovers the extraordinary legacy of the Melocco Brothers — Italian-born artisans whose mosaics, terrazzo, and scagliola transformed Australia's architecture. Written by renowned historian Zeny Edwards and brought to life by Victoria Hynes, this beautifully illustrated book honours a forgotten chapter of craftsmanship, migration, and artistic vision embedded in the very stone of Sydney.
